Silek Academy, the world’s largest indoor gym, is offering online training for college students, a training tool that some believe could be the future of training.
“I’ve been in the gym for a year and I’ve never seen anybody do it better than what Sileca is doing,” said Ryan Smith, who graduated from Florida Atlantic University’s Culinary Institute of America with a degree in Culinary Arts.
Silec, which opened its first gym in 2007 in Atlanta, has now opened its second in Atlanta and plans to open a third in Miami.
The first gym, in Atlanta in 2006, closed in 2010.
Smith said the gym’s training software, called Gis, has made him feel better about his body.
“It’s a real step forward, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more confident in my body,” Smith said.
The software is not the only reason Silecs training program has helped Smith get back in shape.
The Silecias fitness director, Dr. Andrew Smith, has a doctorate in fitness from the University of New Hampshire.
He was featured on CNN’s Inside Health as the author of the book “How to Lose Weight, Get Fitter and Get More Healthy.”
Sileca also has developed its own training software called Bionic.
This is a software that is based on biofeedback, or the ability of a person’s brain to interpret movement, said James T. Campbell, director of education at Silecos athletic department.
“We’ve developed a software, which is called Biofeedback,” Campbell said.
“We’ve put a lot of effort in to making sure that it’s accurate and it’s helping with what we call the human body.”
Siles training software is a great way to train in a safe environment, Campbell said, adding that the software is also great for people who want to work out at home.
“The key is that you don’t have to be a bodybuilder to do it,” Campbell added.
“There are people who just want to do their workouts in a lab environment and work on their body.”
Tara Schaffer, who owns Silecera Fitness, said she wanted to give her students a way to start with their workout.
“They can have their workouts done by a doctor, by an instructor, or by an athlete,” Schaffer said.
Schaffer said the Silecas training software helped her clients get stronger, especially when they got older.
Schiff said she sees this as an opportunity for Silecoys future to expand to include all the different athletic disciplines, including bodybuilding and gymnastics.
